_Who can come for counseling?

_Just about anyone!  Life is hard for everyone from time to time and we can all benefit from kind support at those times.

_Who are the counselors?

_Our counselors include licensed therapists – these clinicians are more experienced and are covered by most insurance companies.   Our registered counseling interns have completed their graduate degrees and are working towards being licensed.  Our pre-graduate interns are completing work towards their graduate degrees.  Interns provide low cost counseling to the community while receiving supervision and training at our Center.

_What happens in counseling?

_Our first job is to listen closely to you to learn exactly what your needs and concerns are. Together we’ll design a plan of action to make the changes you want in your life. Then we’ll support you in moving forward on that plan.

Your personal growth plan may include:
  • Learning new skills
  • Communicating differently with yourself and others
  • Changing old habits of thought, feeling and action
  • Taking better care of yourself and those you love
  • Releasing past pain
  • Resolving conflicts and developing these skills
  • Value and goal clarification
  • Making new friends
  • Counseling as an individual, couple or family and attending classes or groups

_Can I afford counseling?

_With our tiered pricing system, quality counseling is affordable: you can choose to work with our experienced and licensed counselors; most insurance will cover their services.  If you do not have insurance and can’t afford regular counseling fees, you can still receive services from our interns at reduced rates.  Registered interns charge $50 or less, pre-graduate interns charge $10 or less.  All the counseling performed by interns is overseen by licensed supervisors.

_Life, at times, is difficult for everyone, and it can be so helpful to receive kind support and guidance at those times. We are here to help you deal with the challenges on your journey.

_Types of challenges our clients face:

  • Uncomfortable emotions and moods, like anxiety, depression, anger, and shame
  • Relationship problems, as in parenting challenges, partnership issues, and family-of-origin concerns, as well as intimacy and communication problems
  • Traumas, like physical or sexual abuse, assault, or past health- or life-threatening situations
  • Distressing symptoms such as PTSD, chronic illness, panic and anxiety attacks, and compulsions
  • Self-esteem issues, such as shame, problems with body shape, gender identification, or sexual orientation
  • Work and life planning issues
  • Grief and other adjustment challenges

We offer groups and classes for men, women, couples and young adults. In many cases this may be the most economical support for making the changes you want.

We are not a crisis-oriented facility; nor do we focus on addictions. Those in crisis or for whom an addiction is the primary problem will be better served through specialized services.

_The Community Counseling Center of Ashland, LLC also rents offices to and provides support services for licensed counselors and registered interns.
